FanFiction and Why It Should No Longer Be A Taboo

Fanfiction is a word that when uttered outside of online is feared.
It turns you in a second from a fan to an uber obsessed fool, friends suddenly look at you like.
‘Are you crazy!?’ ‘YOU DO WHAT?’ ‘THAT’S JUST WIERD.’
I am an avid fanfiction writer, I have written fanfiction for everything fromPotter to Star Trek to Jurassic Park, heck as I sit and watch a film if I’m really into it I start writing a fanfic in my head.  I love it.
Theres lots of wierd myths about fanfiction knocking about on the internet, so lets get a few things clear first.
www.fanfiction.net is the best fanfcition site I have found, pretty much every blogging site you can think of will probably have fanfiction on it somewhere, it’s everywhere on the internet.
First and foremost, fanfiction is not for crazy people, crazy lonely isolated people. Ok maybe it is, but fanfiction can be quite an enjoyable experience.
Fanfiction is not just about making characters suddenly become homosexuals and all start bonking each other. Niether is it just about making other people bonk your favourite character. Fanfiction can be and is something more then that. For example; In the wide world of the Harry Potter fandom not a lot is known about The Marauders time at Hogwarts, or about say Fred and George, so more often then not fanfiction will focus on characters we don’t know much about speculating what they did in their lives. The trials and trubulations they lived through the loves and deaths they experienced.
Fanfiction is also a great tool I feel for writers, for people who want to become writers. Like people who start out in the theatre direccting other peoples plays or helping to direct them, like people who rewrite fairytales. Fanfiction allows a writer to create plot and storylines, allows them to write regularly without having to build every block of their world.
Writers don’t need to build every floor of a spaceship or a hospital inside their mind, this is because it is already there for us. It means a writer can start creating their novels and take a welcome break from creating every interesting minor detail to get their teeth into some plot and character for a while.
It’s a brilliant and fun tool, that can be used by anyone. Like any writing there is good fanfiction and bad fanfiction, even those which focus on mainly sex can be the best fanfiction you’ve ever read, or it can be the worst.
Fanfiction should also be very flattering to authors and creators of these worlds, if I ever manage to get my work into the wide, wide world, I sincerely hope that I have fans who take the time and effort too write fanfiction. It should be flattering, your work as soon as you put it out there is open to interpretation. Many people will see each characters differently, and if people take the time to write about your worlds, if they love your world enought to do that.Authors should be very flattered and happy.
Anyway, Fanfiction is worth a read, it can be interesting and fun experience go try it, no ones asking you to read some freaky story about Wolverine and Beast deciding to suddenly get down to the nitty gritty, but you could read a nice one about how Fred and George Weasley once set fire to McGonagalls hair and nearly killed Mrs Norris.

A Review of The Taker by Alma Katsu.

The Taker by Alma Katsu.

The Taker is a minty fresh breath of air in a world so dominated at the moment by a tween culture hooked on Twilight.
When I first picked up the book in ASDA, I admit I judged it, I read the back saw the words immortals and thought, oh no another product of the vampire craze that's going on. A craze I'm not a fan off, I like my vampires like Mitchell on Being Human except maybe less Human. Now however I'm misleading you because this is a book far from vampires, this is about humanity.
This is Lanny's story, after she arrives in the E.R one cold night, Lanny begins to tell Luke a tale of love reminiscent of that from Wuthering Heights.
The book begins by leading straight into action that tickles every part of your curious being, I fail to see how anyone can not read at least the first few pages and not want to know more, not want to know who Lanny is, where she has come from, what led to her to being in that ER.

Taking a break from essay writing.....

Ok so I'm tkaing a little break from essay writing. As I've previously stated, twice now my Blog will be back on full form after my exams were over which in my eyes is a shame because I miss writing it and I have found several things that I want to write about, several reviews and things I want to have a little rant about.
Anywho my essays are sort of coming along, I've been stressing out over them which I never normally do, I think  the fact that next year I will be in second year and should know everything makes me a little worried. I'm probably missing some vital skills that I need but I'll learn them again over summer.

Anyway not only do I have all these essays and the like I also have a birthday party to plan because this saturday I am due to turn 21, thats 2 and a 1. I'm having a fancy dress party with friend and family and the like I'm going as one of the best characters of all time, The Joker :) well actually I'm being a female Joker.
I'm excited of course I am but theres so much to do I feel like I have no time at all this week. When i return to full blogging mode, sometime within the next two weeks. there'll will be a wonderful feast of things.

1. A Review of the amazing novel I'm nearly finsihed reading The Taker by Alma Katsu
2. Some more diagnosis Murder reviews
3. A review of X-men first class which I will hopefully ave seen by then.
4. A Post about my new love in the form of the amazing Jane Lynch.

So I guess for now it's farewell for a little while... check back soon :)

Lack of intelligence....

I do apologising for my lack of posting at the moment I have so much work to do, I'm really struggling with my University work to. I think the words swimming against the tide might have some relevance here. I'm also trying to make my way through a wonderful book called The Taker, which as soon as I've finished reading I will do a lovely review for you.

I didn't do very well on my last essay and I'm very dissappointed, I feel like giving up and just letting my work slip, which is what coupled with other thingsled to my downfall at college.
I'm determined to atleasttry and do really well on these last two essays but I don't even understand the questions, sohow I'm meant to answerthem I don't know.

Oh well as soon as I've handed it in on thursday and before I start my last essay I will give you a review of a very good lay I went to see, a review of a very good book I've read and a wonderfully long post on Diagnosis Murder =)

Diagnosis Murder: a tale of Love and Obsession =): Part 2

Part two of my session of posts on Diagnosis Murder.

In this post I intend to tell you about my personal favourites, the episodes I feel are the five best episodes over all 8 series, it was difficult because there are so many brilliant episodes of the show.

Diagnosis Murder: a tale of Love and Obsession =)

It will come as no suprise to people who have peered onto my facebook that I love Diagnosis Murder, but I recently realised that while i have been doing this blog for a while I don't think i have written one post about this amazing show. I've tried to restrain myself from writing about Harry Potter or indeed Diagnosis Murder.

I first watched this show when I was in primary school, I've got no idea how old I was, I don't even remember the first time I actually watched it, my mum tells me it was after having my teeth out at the dentist once. All I know is that from that day forward any sick day would be accompanied by an afternoon spent in the company of the wonderfully bright Dr Sloan and his family, who in case I haven't mentioned are quite adept at solving murders in L.A.

So won't you indulge me a little as I waffle on for a while about, my favourite characters, episodes and scenes of this amazing and brilliant show.

Please Don't Give Up On Me....

Please Don't Give Up On Me...
t's nothing bad or terrifying, it's just something I'd never be able to say in person...

I don't know if any of you feel the same but you are my bestfriends, since you all came into my life I have never felt better, I've never had weeks of happiness, there have been days and then something else.
I've typed out this sentence three times now and deleted it everytime, I don't even know how to put it into words, I know this all sounds stupid but just take it in a little.
I don't know whats wrong with me, sometimes I'm happy bouncing off the walls other times I'm sad, angry I can't begin to describe to you how horrible the feeling is; all that you think in your head is that your alone, and you want to be alone, you feel like your drowning a pressure in your chest everythings heavy and you don't want to, you can't move.
You don't speak to anyone for days on end, unless you have to and even then its only to let them know that yes you are still there, no reason to worry.
Why am I telling you all this?
We had an amazing week the other week, and now to some of you it might feel like I'm giving you the cold shoulder, I'm not, I don't want to burden anyone with the way I feel, I don't want to drag you down. It's not just a case of smiling and shrugging it off, it's harder then that. If you don't understand thats fine or don't want to really bother with me anymore lol :) I Understand it's shit, I'm shit.

The reason I wanted to email you all is because I've never felt more apart of something then when I was with you guys, I want you to know that I still love you all the same as I did last week, I just don't want to ruin a mood. Yours I don't want to drag you down with me. I'm not ignoring you. I've ruined every single friendship along the way because thiis happens, I get close and then I go all cold, I get happy and then I get sad.

I know it sounds stupid and cliched but I wish with all my heart I could ask you guys 'not to give up on me just yet' I know that stupid and selfish and I don't want to be selfish. But yeah...

Sorry for the depressing email :/
I'm not very good at talking I'm a lot better at writing.

I wrote this to my friends, I'm trying to make them understand how I feel, I'm crying out for them to not give up on me just yet, to forgive my down days when I want to lock myself away and accept that I may not always be so chipper, I've never had people pay attention to me when I'm not around, these guys txt me when I'm not there though, they are there all the time, and when it's like that you can't escape, in a good way. So when I want to bury myself in the sand and escape forever it may seem to them like i'm ignoring them, but I'm not.
Because I'm so used to hiding away from everyone, because I don't think I should burden other people with the way I feel, so I had to explain it the only way I knew how.
Was I selfish for doing this? Maybe, Was I wrong to do it? Maybe.
I don't know maybe some people could comment let me know what you think.....

Frankenstein: Live at the corner house.

This is the Cornerhouse Cinema:
This is Danny Boyle:

This is Mary Shellys Frankenstein:
Put them all together and you get one of the most wonderful theatre productions I have had the priveledge to experience, without actually being at the theatre.
Yes this was the part of The National Theatre Live, a series of live productions that are streamed from the National Theatre to various cinemas around the country.
Before I clumsily stumbled across this performance of Frankenstein, I was aware that the opera did a similar thing, when I worked at a cinema, there was a certain day of the week about once a month when they would stream the opera live from where ever it was being performed to the cinema in question. I had no idea they did it with plays though.

Projects New.....

Being in a film studies class, introduces to some rather brilliant films your probably would have never stumbled upon in a million years.

This film is one of those;

This is Le Jetee, the film is by Chris Marker, it's science fiction and made up entirely of still photographs. It's from 1962 and it tells the story of a post-apocolyptic Paris after the third world war. In which the underground inhabitants are experimenting with time-travel. Whats interesting is that even though the images are not actually moving they feel as though they are.

Just one of those days....

I talk openly a lot about the mood swings I tend to suffer. The flying high sensations of the ups and the earth shattering lows of the downs.

Today my bubble has been popped; Everyday for the last week I've been feeling happier, I've found some amazing friends for the first time in a long time, I've been going out, got millions of plans. I've never felt better about my work and the work that I've been doing. And now....

Now I feel nothing; thats wrong I do feel, I feel like my world is crumbling around me, I want to cry but the tears won't form because crying is weak isn't it? No instead of crying I want to destroy and hurt, I want to feel to have some thrill.
I want to go out for a walk into the woods right now, I can see it, I can see walking up the road and down the path into the woods, I can feel the pain in my chest the thrill of being so alone, anything could happen.
I want a drink a strong one, I don't drink hardly ever, I hardly ever go out but now all I want to do is get so drunk I can't think or feel anything something to make me forget this feeling.

The best way to describe it is that of a stone, imagine a life bouy rising up through the depths of water for days and days and then it floats there on the top until someone attatches a stone and it sinks, it feels like something is pulling you under, every muscle in your body feels like it's  trying to hard, your chest feels like it's working to hard. This is just the start though more often then not it will progress onto what I like to call the Hannibal Lecter Phase, the reason I gave it this name was because it's the best way to describe, the calm aritstocratic angry way in which Lecter commits his crimes is the same anger that will brim inside me, it feels like your a highly intelligent being, like every little move you make is calculated just to confuddle your enemy. To make them see how indifferent you are to how much they scream and shout.

It's odd it comes in waves either a calm angry, or a desperatley drowning depression. Any smile that is seen across my face feels like it takes to much effort to make, especially fake.
I don't know what led me down into this darkened room, I don't know what will pull me out, it could last a few hours or a few days.
I just know that right now I can't see past the end of my own nose, let alone what I will do in 20 minutes times, the waiting and the wondering don't help, writing bores me right now, writing reading even watching TV is to much effort.

The Best Way To Eat An Apple ;) (In my opinion)

The Best Way To Eat An Apple.

I bet your thinking are you mad woman! Eating an apple is as simple as ABC, it doesn't require special skills.
But oh how wrong you are my friends there are many different way to eat an apple.
Maybe for example your a biter .......

Or maybe you like to cut it into segments,

Maybe you even like to peel those segments first. Maybe you like to cut it in half devour one half and leave the other in the fridge. Maybe you only eat them on bonfire night or you love to dip them in something sweet. Maybe you even like to coat them in something like cheese and pop them in the oven.

For me though absolutley nothing beats this way of eating an apple.
Ok so maybe it's more in the cutting then the actual eating, but it turns the eating into an experience.
For me there is nothing better then holding an apple in one hand and a knife in the other and just taking chunks off the apple and popping them straight into my mouth. It makes me salivate just thinking about, espeically when it's a big green Granny Smiths apple because they are indeed a beautiful breed.
It's not just the fact your not picking it off a plate, it's kind of taking the eating back to days when plates were not used, I imagine its how Robin Hood would eat his apple. Or it is indeed the way the wise old man eats his.
I guess it's a filmic thing with me, the idea, the picture in my head as I eat it like that.
But there is no doubt in my mind that this beats, grabbing one and taking a huge bite, or neatly chopping it and picking your favourite bits off a plate.

"I'd Be Like Two-Face In His Lair With These Two" or My New Loves. Also A Little Challenge...

Alan Rickman will forever be loved by me, that in unquestionable, he's an amazing actor and was in many regards the first person I fell in love with at the tender age of 8/9.
I mean really I challenge anyone not to love him.
Anywho Mr Rickman aside, I have two new found loves.

First off I want to say something about Guy Henry who is just divine he's wonderful, he's tall and dark and handsome and such a lovely man and I've rather fallen in love with him since about January. For now though it is not him I want to talk about.

What I want to talk about is Holby City, In particular The Swede and The Teddy Bear (as I like to call them).

This is where the two face element comes in, oh how it would be heaven with these two, I would have the two sides of the coin that I love so much.
Like Two-Face in Batman
On the one side he has the light on the other he has the dark, in my case it would be Dr Sacha Levy and Henrick Hanssenn.

"I Want Bi Polar Disorder" Article and some thoughts......

I don't know whether I mentioned on here or not but last week, last friday to be exact, after years of going to the Doctors and trying to tell them I thought their was something wrong with me they packed me off to the Psychiatrist.
After being asked lots of questions by them, they've told me to keep a mood diary and they gave me some hints and tips which I don't remember. They've told me to do this because they think it's a possibility I could have it. While I'm releived though, I'm also rather apprehensive.
I decided to do some research on how to keep a mood chart today, and came across this article....

http://www.acutecareprogramme.org.uk/silo/files/i-want-to-be-bipolar.pdf

Now I don't understand why anyone would want a mental illness, it's not nice. What worries me though is could my Doctors see me as one of these people?

A Glorious trip To The Park.......

So after I finished work today me and two of my friends ventured to the park.

Ok so the park didn't look like this, but you get the idea. My friend brought her little girl to and she was so cute. Shes a proper little cheeky monkey, a real cute kid.
For all the moaning I did the other day about parents and kids I really enjoyed being with them though, shes a normal kid but shes really cute and just fun lol. I enjoy entertaining her to.
Anyway we got some drinks and sweets and sat on the park for an hour and a half got some good pictures and a good video of my friend running around quoting East is East.
The one thing that was missing though was one of my other friends were like a four piece jigsaw me and I would call them my best friends, so it really feels a bit wierd when one of them isn't their. I don't know how they feel about it, maybe they are fine without me there it probably doesn't really matter to them but to me it does.
Anyway we had fun and then I came home to my lovely boyfriend who bought me and him tickets to Frankenstein at the corner house, it's a live streaming of the Danny Boyle version from the national theatre so I'm rather excited about that :) <3

Weight..... It's a funny word.

Weight, I hate that word along with dress sizes, skinny, fat, obese, anorexia.
Some people are naturally fat some naturally thin. Who wrote the guidelines for what the ideal weight is?
Probably some doctor hauld up in a room somewhere.

Today in our culture were obsessed with weight, with eating and unhealthy earting, were obsessed with how we look.
I disgust myself, not because I'm fat or overweight whatever you want to call it but because I sometimes picture myself as this slim supermodel, it's depressing that image and makes me feel disgusting the image of the skinny girl makes me a little sick, a skinny me for who? The people who look at me? would it make me feel any better? the answer is no. It's the vainnes that makes me feel sick I should add, not the thought of me as I am.
I don't want the attention of males, I don't want people looking at me and thinking wow, I'm a curvy girl (size 16) and proud of it, sure when some people look at me they might see a beautiful girl, but most won't, most people will have to speak to me before they judge me, I'd rather someone fall in love with my personality then my looks. Spoken like a true fat girl you say. NO!
Spoken like a true wierd looking kid. I don't want to be beautiful and glamourous which would be the only reason for loosing weight.

I know I know the health, the health thing. To be fair I've got a pretty throwaway attitude to my life. I'm an insignificant dot in a vast universe. I figure we just live it. Thats life shit happens, if I die young I wanna die fast, If I die old a grey so be it, come what may. People say life is worth fighting for. I don't know if it is though, I mean really life doesn't change that much after certain experiences it does for a while and falls back into the same patterns. Same epic fails and smae epic highs. It's just a rollercoaster. When your times up your times up. People will tell me I'm wrong and blah blah blah it's my life at the end of the day, I live it day to day, I'm not crazy I don't take drugs go out drinking all the time or go thrill seeking I just live my life how I live it.  I'm sorry if it sounds selfish, I'm not a selfish person, but life is the one thing that is truthfully ours to do what we want with, in a matter of minutes I could end all of it. Or carry on.

I know that health is a big issue and what not and I'm not telling people not to be healthy. I'm just saying that people should be comfortable in their own skin, if we all looked the same the world would be a place rather like a scene from equilibreum. I believe that everyone should be comfortable in their own skin.
Fat, thin, tall, short, gay, straight, black or white. Be healthy but be happy. If you are happier as a size 16 be a size 16 if your happier as a 12 go to a 12.

My point is everyone should be happy in their own skin and if you are happy in your own skin then don't let other people try to change you or bring you down. It's your life live it the way you want. :)

The Simple Art of Comedy.....

Last night I watched a rather brilliant film, a film so bad it was good, it didn't have amazing visuals, beautiful scenery and a cast of hollywoods biggest and brighest upcoming stars.
No this film consisted of middle aged men, run of the mill women and animals.
Last night I watched Fierce Creatures a film from 1997 starring John Cleese, Michael Palin, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ronnie Corbet Kevin Kline and Robert Linsay.

Some Parents Need to Realise Not Everyone Likes Kids.........

Ok so I work in a kids shop, meaning I should love kids right? NO You couldn't be more wrong and their is nothing worse for me then pushy parents out in a park who insist everyone must love their kids, therefore their kids even when kicking a ball at someone are doing nothing wrong.
